Jennie Ward – Managing Director, JKW PR & Marketing
No two days ever look the same for me – and that’s one of the things I’ve always loved about my job
As Managing Director of JKW PR & Marketing I spend my time juggling words, deadlines and ideas for a wide range of clients across the construction industry, including trade association Timber Development UK, and MDF profile manufacturer W.Howard Group.
One morning I might be editing a case study on a new timber frame building for TDUK’s Supplying Timber magazine, and by the afternoon I’ll be drafting a marketing strategy for a builders’ merchant or shaping a new social media campaign. Working with so many different businesses means I meet a lot of people, and getting to learn their stories, their ideas and their love for the built environment is a privilege I really value.
Much of my work involves writing and research, bringing together technical knowledge and creative storytelling to help companies share what makes them special. I work closely with my clients on everything from press releases and feature interviews to full-scale magazine production. I also act as Editor of a number of trade publications for the specification, heating, plumbing and renewable energy sectors, which helps keep me firmly immersed in what’s happening across the built environment.
Working with so many varied clients means I take on many different roles every day – writer, editor, strategist, project manager – but it’s that variety that makes every day so rewarding. It means I never stop learning, whether it’s about new legislation affecting timber imports or the latest innovations in sustainable materials.
I’ve been part of the construction industry for 25+ years and I’ve always loved being part of an industry filled with passionate, knowledgeable people. It’s a cliché, but this industry really is built on a foundation of long-term relationships, and it’s a privilege to help people tell their stories, and to stand alongside so many brilliant women who are helping shape the future of the timber sector and the wider built environment.
