Emma Peldon – Creative Director and Strategist, Video & Web
Most days start before I feel fully ready for them. I am usually going through emails on my tablet and getting up to speed before heading into the studio.
I am Creative Director at Video & Web, although, like many job titles, that only tells part of the story. In reality, my days move between ideas, delivery, problem-solving, and helping my clients keep momentum. One minute I might be reviewing a website build and asking, “Will this actually attract visitors and convert them into customers?”, not just “Does it look good?”. Next, I could be reviewing strategy with a client, helping keep plans on track and ensuring they turn into progress.
I am driven by finding ways for businesses that do not have a massive marketing budget to make an impact online. I remember a time when companies had a genuine problem with the logistics of reaching a wide audience. Today, everyone carries the internet in the phone in their pocket, and the challenge is getting noticed above the noise.
Whether that is a well-designed website, an online campaign, clearer messaging, or a professionally shot video, the goal is the same. Reach the audience that matters and help our clients be seen for the right reasons. That is where I add value.
By late morning, I am usually deep into something. Writing, reviewing, planning, or refining. I enjoy bringing structure to ideas that felt scattered at the start. There is something satisfying about taking a rough concept and giving it direction.
Afternoons can look completely different. I might be filming, working through a video blog with a client, or helping someone feel more comfortable on camera. Most people begin by saying they hate being filmed. By the end, they usually say it was fun, which I always take as a good sign.
A big part of what I do sits alongside PR and marketing teams rather than replacing them. I often come in to bring a fresh perspective, helping shape ideas so they work across websites, search, and video while supporting wider campaigns already in motion.
We have clients across many sectors and, along the way, I am pleased to say that we have accumulated several in the timber industry.
Earlier in my career, I worked in television and alongside larger agencies, household names, and well-known personalities. It taught me a lot about standards, detail, and consistency, but also something more important. The work only matters if it connects.
That is why no two days ever feel quite the same. Every client is different, every challenge is different, and every story needs its own approach.
A couple of years ago, I started writing a regular newsletter, Emma’s Insights. It took off better than I ever expected. Now I have lots of subscribers who share my journey and adventures in marketing. I enjoy it because I can be candid about what is working, what is changing, and what I am learning along the way. In truth, it is often me reflecting on experiences, having the occasional rant, and trying to uncover lessons we can all benefit from.

“‘Emma’s Insights’ is a genuinely enjoyable and refreshing take on life in general and how it relates to the world of web marketing. Every edition is clear, engaging, and full of practical perspectives and storytelling which are humorous and thought-provoking. I save Emma’s Insights to read on my train journey home at the end of the day, and it’s something I really look forward to!
It’s especially great to see the marketing industry through the lens of a female founder—bringing both expertise and a distinctive voice that sets it apart from typical tech newsletters. It is well worth a read for anyone who wants thoughtful, accessible insights without the usual jargon.”
